If you’re heading to Singapore this August, there’s something worth building your trip around. Marina Bay Sands is hosting the 12th edition of its Sands for Singapore Charity Festival — and it’s the kind of event that makes a visit feel like it actually means something.

Since 2013, the Festival has raised more than $45 million for social causes across Singapore, supporting low-income families, seniors, youths and persons with disabilities. This year it’s bigger than ever, with a packed weekend at Event Plaza plus a month-long dining campaign running throughout August.

The Festival Weekend (28–30 August)

From 28 to 30 August, Event Plaza transforms into a waterfront celebration of food, music and community. Entry is free, and the atmosphere is genuinely fun — live performances from Singaporean artist RRILEY (formerly of The Sam Willows) and local bands 53A, The Vibes and SuperSonic keep things lively across all three nights.

The Good Bites Market is where you’ll want to spend some money. Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer, Bread Street Kitchen (think Gordon’s Fried Chicken and Sticky Toffee Pudding) and RISE are all there, alongside Roberta’s Pizza and homegrown café Nesuto. Proceeds go to AWWA’s Enabled Living @ Bedok programme, supporting independent living for people with disabilities.

There’s also a Giving Marketplace with 11 local non-profits, social enterprises and small businesses to browse — perfect for picking up something a little more meaningful than a standard souvenir.

On 29 August, the Community Chest Heartstrings Walk and Race to the Sky Vertical Marathon gives you the option to walk around Marina Bay or climb all 57 storeys to the SkyPark Observation Deck. Not a bad way to earn a burger.

Dine for Good (All of August)

Can’t make the weekend? The Dine for Good campaign runs the entire month. Twelve of Marina Bay Sands’ restaurants — including LAVO, Yardbird and Maison Boulud — have each chosen a signature dish where proceeds support the same charity initiative. It’s an easy way to give back over dinner without changing your plans at all.
