A Weekend At The W Hotel Sentosa Cove
Sentosa Island has many hotels; however, did you know there are only very few options in Sentosa Cove? This article will cover everything you need about Sentosa Cove and the W Sentosa Hotel.
Sentosa Island was once used as a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp when the British surrendered to the Japanese. However, Sentosa Cove has more than 2,000 oceanfront (luxurious) houses and apartments today. Although this is also part of Sentosa Island, the feel is different because it is a residential area.
Sentosa Cove covers 117 hectares but comprises reclaimed chiefly land, including five artificial islands: Coral Island, Paradise Island, Treasure Island, Sandy Island, and Pearl Island.
Although Sentosa Island has plenty of accommodation choices, Sentosa Cove only has two accommodation choices, the first being ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove and the second W Sentosa Cove.

How To Get To Sentosa Cove
To get to Sentosa Cove from the airport, you can take a taxi, which is the most convenient and direct option. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
Private transfer is the most convenient way to get to Sentosa Cove from the airport. You will be picked up at the gate and dropped off right at the hotel’s door.
Other Options Include:
- The complimentary orange bus that starts at Beach Station service runs from 7 am to 940pm daily.
- During peak hours, the Sentosa Cove shuttle bus runs from HarbourFront Bus Interchange from 630 a.m. to 1030 p.m.
- MRT north-east line (purple) or circle line (orange) to HarbourFront station. You can walk there via the Sentosa Boardwalk or catch the Sentosa Express.
- Sentosa Express (monorail) will take you to several stations on Sentosa but not Sentosa Cove, so you must walk or catch the bus from Beach station.
The W Hotel Sentosa Cove Review
The W Hotel is part of The Marriott Bonvoy points program, which I highly recommend. I have been part of the Marriott points system for over ten years, and I can recommend it as the best hotel points system in Asia (I am a member of quite a few). Hotels like The W, The Westin, and St Regis Hotels and Resorts have invested in this program sweeter!
Although the W Hotel chain is known for its adult partying vibe (I have visited a few, and I can vouch it is true), Singapore’s version has more children than others. It’s worth mentioning if you have a preconceived view of the place before you arrive.
Be prepared to relax. Unlike anywhere else in Sentosa, rushing off and finding activities outside the resort is unnecessary. Instead, stay and enjoy all that Sentosa Cove has to offer.
W Sentosa Arrival and Checkin
Checking in and out is easy. The staff was friendly, and the wait was short. When you check out, you can choose from the express checkout or be serviced by a friendly hotel staff.
The Room
Did someone say “spoilt!?”. We were lucky to take advantage of our Marriott Bonvoy points membership and booked a fantastic room with its lap pool – yep! Loads of privacy as the beautiful surroundings allowed for enough cover to feel like we were in our own little oasis – Why thank you, W Hotel. If you want to book this room, it is called an away suite (yep, tucked away with complete privacy).
Equally surprising was the array of gorgeous treats found in our room! We did not take long to kick off our shoes, relax, and devour the beautiful treats.
The bathroom was beautiful, and the lounge area had that quirky charm all W Hotels offer. The bed was soft and dreamy, making it hard to rise in the morning (too comfortable to leave).
All quirky-cool bar amenities were there for the offering (at a price, of course) and having a swing chair in the lounge area made for the best spot to sit and read a book (tried and tested by me).
Other rooms include:
- Spectacular guest room with a Marina View
- Marvellous suites
- Wonderful Guest Rooms
- Fantastic suite with top floor Marina view and plunge pool
- Wow, this suite with a Marina view and plunge pool is more extensive!
- Extreme Wow (think presidential suite)
W Hotel Sentosa Facilities
You can only go past the W Hotel Sentosa if you visit the pool. These signature W Hotel pools are what make this hotel chain so memorable. So sip your fruity slushy style cocktail by the side of the Wet Pool, or grab a book and relax in one of the cabanas. Otherwise, you could Swim up to the wet bar (when restrictions are lifted) and enjoy your drink there.
Away Spa is precisely that; it takes you far away as you float on a high from one of the many Spa services on offer. Choose to enjoy on your own or with your partner or friend.
Okay, they have a fitness centre, and although we walked past it each time we went to our room, I can not say firsthand what is on offer. However, pressing my nose up to the glass and looking in (yes, I did this), I noticed that the facility looked good and had all the necessary machines for a serious workout. Regular opening hours are between 7 am and 10 pm daily.
Dining At The W Sentosa Cove Hotel
Eating in a suite or luxury room is always lovely; the 24-hour room service menu is extensive, so you will be satisfied if you spend your entire weekend inside. Suppose you explore the hotel dining options.
The Skirt restaurant is for those who love steaks and know what grilling is all about. The dress code is clever casual, so think of a more beautiful restaurant rather than a steakhouse. It is open for dinner only.
You will have breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Kitchen Table. It is a much more family-oriented, relaxed, casual dining area. I was lucky enough to enjoy a beautiful lunch here.
Woobar is a great place to stop for a drink before you head out to dinner or a lovely place to catch up with friends in the afternoon. The atmosphere is relaxed, the view is fantastic, and the staff are friendly—it is a win-win.
Eating Out At Quayside Isle
There are many options for eating out around Sentosa Cove, and Quayside Isle has many bustling restaurant choices.
These include Blue Lotus Chinese, Greenwood Fish Market, Rock Bar Burger and Steakhouse, Sabio by the Sea Tapas Bar and Grill, Bali on the Cove, Two Chefs Bar, and more.
