Who is Kunthaville?

Nestled in the heart of Singapore’s vibrant historic district, Kunthaville is a culinary gem that invites diners on an unforgettable journey through Sri Lanka’s rich heritage. Founded by the passionate Chef Owner Ms Kuntha Chelvanathan in 2023, this charming colonial-style restaurant in a beautifully conserved century-old shophouse has quickly captivated food lovers with its unique blend of traditional Ceylonese flavours and modern culinary artistry.

What truly sets Kunthaville apart is its immersive dining experience, featuring thoughtfully curated menus that celebrate the diverse tapestry of Sri Lankan cuisine. Many ingredients, including exquisite spices and aromatic teas, are sourced from Kuntha’s own plantations in Sri Lanka, ensuring authenticity and quality in every dish.

Most people rave about the signature KayChef chutneys and Crazy Hot sauces, which have become so popular that they’re now available as bottled merchandise—perfect for bringing a taste of Sri Lanka home or sharing with friends around the globe. Join Kunthaville and indulge in a delightful celebration of flavours that will leave you craving more!

The Dining Experience

Each course is carefully prepared and presented, starting with a selection of traditional appetisers. These included Malaku Rasam (tangy, spice-infused broth), Paan Roti whch is the iconic coconut flat bread served with the KayChef Chutney.

As the courses progressed, we were treated to various dishes highlighting fresh ingredients and aromatic spices. The main courses featured dishes like Kiribath (the interplay of sweet, spicy and sour ensures for a dreamy infusion of flavours) and Iddiyapam (delicate string hoppers that are layered with two varities of coconut chambal and served in a light, subtly spiced creamy poricha sothi gravy). Each bite was a testament to the skill and passion of the chefs.

Enhance your Degustation Journey

The degustation journey can be enhanced by the tea pairing from the region. Handpicked from Kunthavilles tea plantations in the Ingirya and Nuwara Eliya regions of Sri Lanka.

The Menu Highlights

The 10-course menu was thoughtfully crafted, ensuring a balance of flavours and textures. Standout dishes included the Sago Bed and Vaippan desserts (I am a huge lover of desserts). This truly thought out menu is not only a true magical palate experience but also beautifully plated to ensure the entire experience is one to remember. For only $128 p/p, this is a degustation worth trying for yourself.
